Default 2.3 myths/facts???????

alright a friend of mine told me a few things about the 2.3 i thought were REAl sketchy, thought id get a few opinions... first off, i was told the shaking of these motors could be cured by 2 things in the distributor, and its easier to get a whole new one? next up is richening for the turbo motor, taking the side off the VAM and moving the spring a few teeth one way will do this??? and last, ??advancing??? the cam gear ???4 teeth?? is supposed to help low end torque?

like i said, these sound sketchy, and before i do stuff like this id like input before i melt my "rare" motor down, as these are hard as **** to find in good shape decent priced around here..

Well, I have a spare 2.3l turbo motor under my work bench and I also have access to a complete low mileage 2.3l out of an 87 TC ($250 if you want it). Also I have never touched the inside of my VAM and also have kept my cam set at 0. If you look in my sig you can see my 3000 lb TC is bad ass.

So what was the question?

No shaking in my motor. 2.3t I also use a escort IAC cured alot of my idle problem. Adjusting vam will change the setting as far as richness but. Has mixed results. Some turbo guys do it when using it as a blow-thru vam or going to larger injectors. On a stock or midly tuned one I say leave it alone. Video of mine idling.

Chris00GT, how complete is this 2.3T??? What kind of mileage are we talking? I live just outside Lancaster, PA and for $250 a complete 2.3T is a really good price!
