I have a 1989 2.3L convertible mustang. The exaust is all rusted out and there are holes in it. I was thinking about replacing the whole thing. Is it worth it? will i get anymore power if i get larger pipe and will it sound better if i get a good mufler. am i losing power because there are holes in it.
Yeah get the 2.25 inch pipe. I only got the flowmaster 40 Series Muffler because I wanted better sound and performance. I still got the 2 inch pipe. For the headers they are kind of hard to find for a 2.3. I cant remember exactly where I saw them before. Go with the exhaust for now.

ok thanks. does that mustang of yours go fast.. is it worth it to fix up my 2.3 ?
It goes faster NOW than back when I used to have it stock. I get faster acceleration with the 3 inch diameter intake pipe. Since yours is a 89, You can add this cold air intake. It comes with the 3 inch diameter pipe that replaced your stock one. A cone filter, and a rubber thing to make it fit well. Mine is a 91 and its harder to install it because I have a MAF sensor attached to my air intake. Check out the Cold air intake here.

I dont know allot about cars yet.. how do i gat a tune up, and i just need some other simple tips to get all i can out of it
A tune up is basically replacing the spark plugs and wires. Replacing your filters, oil, air, fuel. Doing your oil change. You might be able to do the air filter change since your installing the cold air intake. And maybe the spark plugs and wires and oil change. Let me know if you need any more help. I'll be able to answer you tomorrow because I have to go now. Byee.
