Question New Rack and Pinion now steering is loose!

Need some technical help here PLEASE

I had my rack and pinion steering replaced on a 1990 Foxbody LX today and now the steering is loose. I contacted the shop that replaced it and they said it may be a seal of some sort and just to bring it back in. Can anyone educate me a bit so that I can go in to the shop tomorrow with a little knowledge. Although the rack was leaking the steering WAS tight and now the wheel moves several inches from side to side before it ingages. Actually make me very nervous driving. I took it back by the shop and they looked under the hood and could see some sort of rubber seal that was hung or missing a piece? Does that make sense? He told me to bring it in tomorrow and they would fix it.

He mentioned that the car is 18 years old but shouldn't the steering be tight after replacing the rack?

Any and all info is GREATLY appreciated!

The new R and P should have made the steering tight. Not sure what kind of seal they are talking about.Seems they would have test drove it,or noticed.Take it back and watch them closely.

Missed this one by a day or so. Sorry.

I would have thought the mechanic would have seen the rag joint when they replaced the rack. It sure would have been easier to replace then.
