Default Oil Cooler Add on

Has anyone put an transmission oil cooler on your 2.3 with an automatic trans? I've been looking at one at Advanced Auto. Any tips on looking for the right one or will the universal one work?

i still want to do this to my car, but i am running a little low on cash.. but i think a universal one would work..i would put a "t" fitting where the pressure sending unit is at.. then run the oil from there..

I got a really good deal on a B&M Supercooler one a few years back from a friend. Easy install. Any tranny cooler will help, but the stacked-plate type are most efficient (and most expensive). All I did was use a tubing cutter to remove a small section of the top steel transmission cooler line. I have the hot fluid coming out of the tranny into the Supercooler then looping back into the stock radiator cooler and back to the transmission. I did it this way because the Supercooler actually cools the transmission too much so I have to add a little heat back into the fluid so the transmission shifts normally in the winter time.

So if the trans fluid is to cool it will shift funny in the winter?

Yes. Your shifts will be delayed and clunky. There is a point of overcooling, which is not good for the transmission. That is why I routed mine through the stock in-radiator cooler after it goes through my aftermarket cooler. That way the temperature is more regulated than cooler so to speak.

I bought my trans oil cooler today @ Advanced Auto Parts and I paid a whole $29.88 plus tax. It is an Econ-o-Kool trans-cooler made by Imperial Automotive Products. I havn't got it installed yet but will let you know when I do.
