Exclamation 1989 Mustang won't start, it just clicks. Please Help!

I put a new clutch in it last week and it's been starting great. I went to Wal~Mart tonight and when I came out it wouldn't start, only clicks. I popped the clutch to get it started so I could get it home. I tried using a different battery, "jumping" the relay, checked all connections and there tight, but all it will do is click. this is the only car I have right now and I really need to get it to start. I hope some one can help.

Sounds like your starters' bad if it clicks even when you try to jump it off, still does same click when you bypass the starter solenoid, I would go after thestarter take it and have it tested at least. I s your charging system working otherwise? no chg. light? Since you did the clutch a week ago reinspect your work and make sure everything is connected securely.

Sounds like your starter relay isn't getting enough power from the battery. Check for corroded or loose connections, broken or damaged positive cable from the battery. Low or dead battery.
