Default Newer Ford Ranger with a 2.3 DOHC

I saw one today (newer than 2000 I believe, a 2.3l with a stock DOHC) could anyone tell me if you could possibly take the head off that newer 2.3l and put it on the 1993 2.3l?

i dont know if you can but think of it this way if you want to turbo then the head wont be forged so you might have some problems

since when were the heads forged on anything? it's the pistons not the heads that are forged.

No one makes a a "forged" head. All heads are cast.

To answer the original question, the new DOHC head will not fit.

so why it wont fit onto the motor be a little more specific and could you take that motor out of the ranger and bolt it up to a 2.3L AOD? just wondering whats physically stopping it from working of course this is running without turbo set-up whats really sad i feal is that my g/f's 2004 kia gets off the line quicker than my 2.3L she has a DOHC 2.2L i think

I think it is just the bolt pattern, either that or the width or length could also be an issue. It could even bee the way the holes for the coolant/oil line up. there is a lot of things it could be lol Idon't know exactly though. And I don't believe there is a way to mod it to fit or you would have hear about it. I wounder to myself sometimes who the crazy man who first did the vovlo head mod was. That is just like wow you know, needs some good fabing, some great welding and lot of time and cash. I applaud the man
