Default 2.3timing marks?

everything i can find online and such says you just line up the marks on the cam sprocket to the mark on the cover, but my cover has 3 notches in it?? any ideas on which one, and if it would make the car run stupid?

You can even use the "string" method.

Use a piece of string to run a line from the center of the cam sprocket bolt to the center of the aux sprocket bolt. Line up your cam to that line

The bottom mark lines up with the middle notch that has TDC marked on it.

If all else FALS pull a plug on #1 plug and insert a long thin screwdriver in the hole and very gently bring the piston up to TDC. Then you can look at the cog and see the marks. Sometimes they are not their and sometimes they are hard to SEE. When i build or tune engines the first thing i do is get TRUE TDC. Your car is a waste spark with a crank sensor so you really need a cover. But the screwdriver method will get you their. Good luck
