I was really just wondering if someone could offer a tutorial or some pictures on how they did a MAF Cold Air Intake (Mounting, and Placement really) Also if anyone could offer an idea on where to get a MAF that'll handle a 3" intake tube. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We're on the same page. I've been trying to make a custom CAI on my 91 but found out I need to upgrade to a 3 inch programed MAF. I heard from someone that tried a 3.8L MAF but I never got his results.. Hopefully someone out there has already done this to their 91-93 2.3. Because I thought I was the only one out there wanting to do this.

You could cut the square part where the bolts would normally go, that's what I did to make it round, but they do make an adapter that screws on to the MAF to make it have a round side this is the intake I have and it gives a part number for the adapter on the site BBK Performance 1557 - BBK Cold Air Induction Systems - summitracing.com
I like it because it sits in your fender giving you true "cold air". Instead some I have seen that sit in the engine bay area and the manufacturer says they are cold air. I don't know, but I would not call the air coming of my header cold lol.

I understand the MAF adapter, I have one already but the problem is the MAF can't handle the 3 inch intake tube. On mine when I turn it on, it gets high rpm like 2200 and then it goes down till it dies unless I keep giving it gas. So I had to put back the stock 1 inch intake. And the CAI you provided is for the 5.0 not for 2.3. It still worked for you? No stalls? Is it also the with the stock 2.3 MAF sensor?

Yes is it the one for a 5.0 I have had no problems, like I said I just chopped the corners off the MAF, drilled a few holes for the vac lines. If anything it it idles better than when I had the stock air box on...

My car idles around 750 RPMs. Did you have your vacuum lines ran after the MAF? I know if I take one off (the larger tube) my car will throw a check engine light if is not in the intake AFTER the MAF, but will not stall unless I unhook the harness to the MAF. What your problem is sounding like is not a proper seal maybe you are pulling in air around the seals. Also ALWAYS pull your ground when switching out OEM parts, this will reset the computer therefore the car wont be used to what was in there. It takes about 10 miles of driving for your car to once again get used to the current driving habits, configurations, ect. Let me know if you fixed the problem...

Thanks for the help, I think I know what the problem is. I remember seeing my intake have a really small opening but I didn't think it would matter. This time ill make sure its all secure, and disconnect the ground. Ill let you know how it goes.
