Default 1986 Mustang 2.3 carb question

i have a question about the carburetor on my 86 mustang 2.3. i recently rebuilt it when i noticed that the threads that hold the throtle body to the main body were gone! i tried filling them with JB weld tapping it and using more aggressive screws but they dont hold and it runs like crud.

im all out of ideas and a remaned carb costs about $400. being a high school student i cant afford that so i need some other ideas. i plan on driving this to school startin january so its not a big rush. well any of your input would be greatly appreciated. thanks a bunch.

jeff

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I have an 86 Capri that HAD that carb on it. I hated that carb so I put a 2 barrel carb on it, but that's probably out of your price range. I know the exact bolt holes you speak of. The bodies of those Carter YFA's are REALLY, REALLY soft. I'm not sure what to tell you. My thought would be find a cheapo at the junkyard and rebuild that one. I just checked with AutoZone and Advance Auto and they both want $460 plus a core charge! The last time I looked at those carbs, they were $200. So, I went to Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto and checked their price. $250-$290 bucks depending on brand. Check them out. Saves you $200!
