Its not a Honda, it doesnt go 1-2-3-4. It goes 1-3-4-2. go to autozone and get a haynes or chiltons if you cant understand the following: if the dizzy cap is lined up correctly; the top left plug attaché is one, top right is two, bottom left is three and bottom right is four.

unhook the plug wires from the dizzy-cap, take the one hooked to the 1st plug in front of the engine and plug it into #1, take the second plug wire and put it on #3 take the third wire and plug it unto #4 and the 4th plug wire and hook it to #2 it should run correctly depending on the duraspark IV's condition. and if you havent screwed up the timming. I hope you do have a vacum advance right?

If you've got an 86 like your username implies, you have no vacuum advance, you've got the TFI IV ignition. Most quality 2.3L TFI IV distributor caps are marked with a "1", designating that as where the #1 cylinder spark plug wire goes. After that, working clockwise, it's just like said above firing order.

If the distributor has been out,#1 could be anywhere. Align the cam timing marks, then the TDC marks on the crank pulley, and where ever the rotor is pointing is #1 cylinder. (Thats only by turning the crankshaft, of course!)
