It is fairly basic.Unhook the electrical connector, then screw the sensor out.Replace with new one, tighten real snug, hook up connector.

Smile Changing O2 Sensor

Not certain of configuration on your year but last set of 4 OS units required special socket. I purchased the special adapter socket at Advance auto which allows the cable line to string thru the upper portion of the socket. One other thing if you unsure, you can use check out a service manual at local library.
I often use my local online libray data base for automotive as quick reference.

Research Resources

All you need is your library card.

I know where it is, It's just really hard to get to. I probably can't do it unless the car is on a lift.... I don't feel like paying $100+ to have that the one thing done at the garage.

Another thing I should have added is... (what happens when i unscrew the sensor, is there possibilities that it can be froze on and can harm more than needed?) Sorry, I'm just thinking of all the things that must be done and what I need to know. Thanks guys

You should be able to get to it on some ramps or jackstands.Soak it real well with penatrant and it should come right off.A o2 sensor socket is handy, they are about 10 bucks. The threads on the o2 bung are tuff,so they should be fine.If the threads look rough, clean them with a tap,i use a spark plug tap,the big end is the same threads and does a good job.

Any good penatrants out there that work the best? Just wondering.

PB Blaster is a good one.Hit it with a wire brush, then soak it.

This is what I ended up doing to replace the O2 sensor on my '93 2.3L. This does work, and you will not be able to get the old sensor out, where it's located.

Remove the EGR supply tube and cat pipe from the exhaust manifold. If you have access to a pneumatic gun, find the correct size impact socket. Cut the wires off of the old sensor, so the socket will fit over the sensor. You should spray some PB Blaster, or other suitable penetrant on the area where the sensor threads into the manifold. Use the pnematic gun and socket to remove the old sensor. If you back off the strength of the gun, or know how to "lightly squeeze" the trigger, you'll be able to get that old sensor out with little trouble and no pulled threads. Install the new sensor with the correct O2 sensor socket. Don't get any anti-seize on the end of the sensor that samples the oxygen content, or you'll get to buy a new one and do this again. Install the exhaust manifold onto the engine and reconnect what you removed to get it off. If you had a gasket between the manifold and the head, inspect it to be sure it's still serviceable. Replace it if it's not.

I'm just going to take it to a garage... They have the right tools to do it.

Hey, if you don't have the tools to complete the work, that's ok.

If you plan on getting more hands-on with the work on your Stang, it wouldn't hurt to get the appropriate tools. The tools needed to swap the O2 sensor out are those that can be used elsewhere on the car and other cars.

Good luck, either way.
