I have just bought a 1984 Turbo Coupe For $300. The car is in excellent shape. This is the first turbo coupe i have owned. I currently have a 1990 T-bird, and I have owned 2.3 cars before, but not a turbo 2.3. I worked with the guy i bought it from, when he told me he was selling the car, it ran fine. When i got the money to buy it he said he had hurt the motor some. He didnt know what the problem was. So the car starts and idles just fine right. When you push the gas pedal down, it revs up to about 2000rpm. Then the car bogs out and stays there and doesnt go any further. It seems to want to rev up more but it doesnt. So i come here to hopefully get some answers on what it could be. I just dont knw much about turbo engines. My plan was to just start buying new parts here and there starting with fuel pump and filter and then new sensors and new injectors and so on. Just to have new parts on the car and hopefully fix the problem. So, can anyone help me at all? If so, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Run a fuel pressure test..make sure the cat. converter is not stopped up..check the basics,cap,button,plugs,etc.

Also check cam/engine tining to see if it skipped teeth on the belt
