there is always going to be power at the injector, as long as the wiring is intact. The injector gets the pulse from the EEC gounding it. Thus, the light will be on at the injector.
There is usually a paper label n the plug part of the EEC, where it mates to the harness.
Good luck finding a PE replacement. I think Advance had them (Parts America), but that was almost 2 years ago. You should be able to plug-and-play a TE (84) or PJ (85) to see if it runs better, but the timing and fuel mapping is not near the same.
