1984 Mustang SVO No tail lights, no gauge or parking lights?
Here I go again guys, I have another electrical problem on my SVO. After noticing that there is something wrong with my alternator, I also noticed that I have no gauge lights, parking lights, or tail lights. My Head lights turn on just fine as well as the turning signals. Also my tail lilghts work but only when I apply the brake. When my head lights are on, I did try turning the knob that will turn on the lights in the dash but I get nothing and it DID used to work before. Does anyone know whats going on??
I think I might have a blown fuse and if thats the case, where is the fuse block on my 1984 svo?
As always thanks for any help in advance, I really appreciate it!

Okay so I found the fuse block which was under the dash and to the left of the steering column. I then began checking the fuses with my test light. The 5 amp fuse for the gauge lights didn't light up on my test light from either side of the fuse. So now my problem is finding out what is what powers that fuse? Anyone know where I can go from now?

The illumination dash dimmer switch? Because how can all 3 lights go out at the same time? Gauge lights, parking lights, and taillights. If I turn the dash dimmer knob until it clicks, it will still turn on the interior headliner light.

You went from the inlet and outlet sides of the fuse TO GROUND and got nothing? Did you try another known good fuse slot to see if you have a good grounding source? I use a meter.....I don't trust test lights (my $.02 is all).
Also, you should be able to look at the fuse and see if it's blown.
PM me an email address and I will send you the schematic from the EVTM. It's for an 85, but it won't differ that much where it will be a waste of your time and efforts.
I tjust may be the headlight switch......the front rear, and dash lights have different grouding points on the chassis, so it can't be that.
I also hope this thing with your alternator didn't smoke the wiring for the lighting. There are fusible links located between the coil and the driver's headlight).

On another note.........do your foglamps light up? I think you talked to me before about a bad foglamp, but you said one on them worked. They go through the headlight switch as well

Yes I tested the inlet/outlet of the fuse to ground and got nothing, as well as tested every other fuse slot and the test light lit up when I did so. I don't have a multimeter right now.. so my test light is all I had. I'm buying one this weekend because I really need one bad for other testing.
I too was starting to think this may be relating with my alternator. My instructor at auto electrical in college told me that I have to find what powers that fuse because that is what may be the issue. Also does the fusible link that comes off the negative terminal cable to the frame, power any of my lighting issues? Because that has split wires and possible corrosion. I'm replacing that this weekend, not sure if it will solve anything but yeah. There is also another sensor that is connected to the same bolt on the frame which leads to a wire harness and I was having trouble removing that in order to replace the neg. terminal cable, I'll take pics..
Sorry for all the trouble, I'm just beginning to learn electrical.

My fog lights don't work either, but that didn't work even when everything else did. The fog lamp on the drivers side isn't there, but the passengers side does have one.
The fog lamp switch doesn't flip to the "on" positon, its just stuck.
