Exclamation 1988 2.3l turbo with 5.0l throttlebody

alright so i have a ford courier i put an 88 turbo coupe motor in.... ive heard rumors and things about 5.0l foxbody throttle body as a direct replacement upgrade. my buddies giving me one but havent looked at it too close yet. My question is, is it a direct bolt on or what needs to be modded to fit right? thanks!

Well I have heard there will be some minor fabricating involved. I don't know for sure haven't looked into it to much, but from what I understand you might have to make a space with the correct alignment for the bolts. But let me know how that goes. And congrats on the turbo . Something I hope I get to do one day... lol

they make a kit for a SN95 TB. It is fairly useless to "upgrade" to that unless you open up the intake.....and you can do some welding

I have done this swap but I have not been able to drive the car since I have done the swap so I can't tell you exactly how much more power or response it made but it was fairly simple to do. I used a professional products throttle body that fit a late 80's to 93 5.0L the one that had the bigger diameter throttle body, its been so long I can't remember exactly. I had to make an adapter plate that fit the bolt pattern and had a buddy of mine weld it to the aluminum intake and than hogged the hell out of the intake to open up the air flow. I also out the Airaid throttle body spacer in as well and lined it up with everything so that the air flowed freely. It wasn't a huge task but I think it will be worth it in the end. I hope this helps, let me know it you have questions or if you want me to find the part numbers I bought.

A 60mm TB installed with the boring of the intake flange will get you about 6 HP. It has been documented by Forced4 and they actually had an article published in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords.
