Default flame thrower (spark plug in exaust)

Anyone heard of the old trick of puting a spark plug in the tailpipe and hooking it up to a coil to make a flame thrower? I am really intrested in doing it, but I do not know exactly how? Anyone ever done it? I have seen kit's but I don't want to spend that much on one.

Yeah I've seen some kits that go for $45. I've never done it but I think you need some sort of mounting bracket with an ignition coil.

Hmmm.... Intresting, where did you see the kit's at? I have heard autoloc.com has a pretty good kit. But I have a Ignition coil, spark plug wire, and wire's, wire connectors, and the push buttion.

I have been told from a few people that it's pretty easy but they can't remeber how to do it.

They were telling you to drill a hole about 7- 10 inch from the tip or end and tap it and use the button for the ignitor this is an old trick and it workes. But flame throwing exasts are elegal in most states.

A buddy of mine knew a good ole boy with a big ole pickup that had one of those rigs. He had his fuel/air set a little rich, and REALLY had a flamethrower going!

I guess the cops around town just tolerated it (it was a small town, a long time ago) until he did it while taking off from a red light. There were two ladies walking behind him, and he didn't burn them, but he singed the pantyhose right off their legs!

If you are running efi you cant do it the old way, you need to buy a kit where it shuts off your spark for a second and dumps raw fuel into your exaust. Other wize you can do it the old way with a carb, set your car to run a tad rich then mount a spark plug AFTER your muffler if you have one. If your mount it before it will turn your muffler into a fule/air greanade when all that vapor gets traped in there, oh yah you cant have a cat either. The cat will ruin all of your flames. well thats my 2 cents

is there even enough raw gas in the exhaust after the cat to burn?
