I have a 1990 2.3l and my muffler is about to fall off. Its connected still on the very rear of the car by the exhaust pipe with the rubber grommet (which is cracked halfways through) and then going up the pipe towards the front of the car its connected in the back of the muffler, also by the grommet, but on the other side of it where the exhaust pipe comes from the front of the car into the muffler there is nothing holding it up except the pipe going into it. I have no idea how it was origionally connected. Any ideas how to fix it besides buying a new muffler? I dont want it to fall off. Also on that side there is no bracket or anything that looks like it was a way to have been mounted at one time.. Thanks!

i say just get a new one,

but if not try welding some brackets in there to help support it

Can you post a picture to show exactly where? I would try bailing wire.

If you dont have access to a welder, you can always to to a parts store and get a hanger kit and a piece of patch pipe big enough to slip over the existing pipe and clamp it all together. That should fix it for under 20 bux
