Air Intake Silencer

I know what the silencer does. I read that earlier post on the removal of this. but dont fully understand. 2 people said 2 different things. Is this silencer in that big ass clunky thing right in the middle of the cleaner box, and the throttle body? I ripped that out of my car and found it had some stupid thing in it that looks like a round cheese greater. I just want to make sure thats what it is, and where it is before I rip this thing apart. I have a 1988 mustang 2.3.. Is it different from the other years, because it looks different from the pic I found in the other thread. Thanks again!

Im not sure if this is what it is. Im ripping at this stupid thing and just broke the off a peice of the end.. How do you take this stupid peice of **** out of the tube? excuse the language but this is pissing me off..

hell I just took a knife and cut it threw the wall of the silencer.. It worked, but causes alot of anger.

usually its just in the bottom of the air box, most times it just pulls out, but there may be a rivet in there holding it in.

I haven't started on that one, but that other thing in the tubes was hard, I just ended up gutting the whole thing, hey it did the trick!

yeah. that works.. pull out everything before your air filter.. it was probably a water seperator that you had.. im not familiar with those engines.

might be an air silencer, but its between the TB and the airfilter/MAF... usually the air silencer is on the other side of the air filter..

That is what my air silencer looks like on my 1993 Mustang you got the right item gutted.

that was it if you take it out from the right side it comes out easy if not then its hard the older 2.3s had an oval shaped one like that but you removed the right thing.
