Question Brake Lights Stopped Working

I took my car through an automatic car wash ( I really don't like using them because I've seen them damage a lot of cars but it was free lol) and now my brake lights don't work. All of my other lights still work. Are the running lights and brake lights the same bulb only they get brighter? If so I'll just replace the bulb.

I would chech the bulbs first, they are the same bulbs. If the bulbs are fine, check the brakelight switch.

It turned out that the wiring that connects to the brake light sensor had deteriorated and overheated at the plastic connector the sensor plugs into. I looked at it and one of the wires was hanging off of it lol. Thanks for the help

I know this is a bit late but I found a page that shows the brake light switch and instructions on how to properly remove and replace it. So I figured I'd post it to help anyone who needs it.
Here it is
