Exclamation 1993 Mustang LX convertible loses power and dies randomly

So the other day i was going to work when the car just randomly died. after coasting to the side of the road it fired right back up. it then proceeded to do ti 3 or 4 more times on the way into town. its been doing it for a couple days now. only ever did it while driving until today it was sitting in driveway warming up when it died and then took a few tries to fire back up. it would turn over just wouldnt start. its a 93 convertible 2.3l auto. all ive done to it is replaced the radiator about a month ago and put a new battery in it. engine is a bit dirty so the radiator is full of nasty looking gunk that ive been meaning to flush out wiht the hose but its been to cold the last few days to even stand outside. thanks

oh and if anyone happens to have a spare set of outside metal door handles laying around i would appreciate knowing. tried getting in the car today and it was frozen shut so the handle decided to rip off...

thanks again

my 93 stick had a similar problem it turned out to be the crank sensor it would randomly shut off then start up until warm then it would not so try that and see if that fixes the problem.

could possibly be the fuel pump going out? running on its last legs kicking itself off every now and again. same thing was happening to my buddies car (not a mustang, but fuel pumps are fuel pumps not much difference between cars).

Hmmm I also have a 1993 conv. 2.3 auto. That is really odd and it probably isn't good that your car is dying.

so i took it to a mechanic to figure out wat the problem was and he said the water pump was leaking. going to replace the pump tomorrow but i was just wondering if anyone would know if the water pump leaking onto the crank sensor would be doing any permanent damage to it. im hoping to get by with just replacing the pump bc i priced crank sensors and well they are just really f-ing expensive.
thanks
