In my opinion, each one serves a different group of people. The Haynes manuals are perfectly fine for people with higher than intermediate mechanic skills because at that level, you should already know how each component works and it's relationship to the rest of the car. That way you're not relying on it for step by step instructions, just as a reference for adjustment specs, component locations on different vehicles etc. The Ford manuals are good if you're learning as you go, people with general-beginner level skills. That's just my opinion though
