well let me start, i have a 93 2.3 that the motor died in, i put a carbed 2.3 from an 85 mustang in it. got it up and running but it wont charge. motor came from running car, i purchased the whole thing for the swap so i know. there are 3 wires on the back of the altenator, one is black/orange heavy gauge, which is battery, the other goes to the carb., now there is a orange/blue wire that i do not know where it goes, have hooked it up to everything with no luck. checked my haynes and chiltons books but are of no help. so does anybody know where this wire goes or why it wont charge?

are you sure it isnt a bad alternator they can become bad from sitting and from moved around since you say it was with the motor right?

no if you ground it the car dies instantly, hook it to the battery and it slowly drains.

the only thing i can think of is that your alternator doesnt supply enough juice.

altenator is good, took it to autozone and it checked out fine.

no what im saying is that maybe you need a more powerful alternator.

for what all it does is power engine. no radio, no wipers no power anything, except for lighting

then you have a bad ground some where i would suspect or just a wire grounding some where causing you to lose power.
