Default 1992 2.3 mustang manuel transmission clutch issue

I am having a problem with my clutch. When i have the car on i cannot shift into any of the gears. But when the car is off i can shift into all gears and cut it on at first gear it will move. Also the pedal is now very loose as well. And i also hear a dinging noise under the car in the clutch area.

Most likely a broken clutch cable.

There are 2 cables.
1. The long cable that runs from the clutch pedal to the bellhousing.
2. Short "dogbone" cable that runs from the small bellcrank on the side of the bellhousing to the clutch throwout arm.

I'm betting on the dogbone cable being broken. It's a common problem. They're available at most parts stores and they're fairly cheap.

Well i checked both cables and they are both working. And when you pull on the cable it moves the pedal and vise versa.

Then you're pulling the transmission to see WTF happened to your clutch.
