I am trying to put a new cam in my 2.3 efi and I have bought two spring compresors and they only work on some of the springs. The springs near the cam suports don't have enough room for any tools. Does anyone make a special tool or is there a trick. Has anyone had this problem before?

ok so i have found the "special tool" does anyone know a way to do it without it?

Are you replacing the cam or springs or both, or are you just trying to get the follower off the cam and lifter ???

If you're just replacing the cam, take 10 minutes and make this. I've used mine a dozen times and it works great!

thanks guys, um I am replaceing the cam,valve springs, and lifters. I am putting a pretty big cam and stiffer springs in it. I am takeing the cam out today so we will see how that goes

well truth be told I found out the best tools to compress the springs were a tire iron and a 5/8 wrench. What ever works I guess.
