Question How to fix a low battery voltage? 1993 Mustang LX

Hello, I just bought a 1993 Ford Mustang LX 2.3L i replaced the battery and the alternator. And the battery voltage meter on the dashboard is low, and the battery light is staying on. I took back the alternator to pep boy's to replace it and they checked my battery. They gave me another alternator i hooked it up and its still doing the same thing. If i turn on the head lights the battery voltage meter drops. What else could be causing this? Thanks!

It is normal for the battery gauge to show low on these fox bodies, is the red battery light on ??? If so check the voltage at the battery with a volt meter at idle it should be 14.2 volts. If red light is on check all fuses in the fuse box and all fuse links at the Starter relay by the battery.

Yeah the red battery light is on, check the main fuses or check the fuses under the driver side dashboard? And what are the fuse links to the starter relay? I did also replaced the starter relay, just to make sure how should i hook everything up to the starter relay?

Check the plug connections on the alt. I had one that had to be moved just right for it to charge.

Fuse links are like a fuse but will tolerate more than a fuse, the starter relay has several fuse links hooked to it, they look like wire with an eyelet attached to them to be able to bolt them to the relay, check each wire (small ) aprox 12 to 14 gauge going to the relay, most of the time you will see where they burnt through. if you dont see any burnt through LIGHTY pull on the wires, the burnt one will pull apart very easy. Make sure to replace the FUSE LINK with the same size gauge to prevent a fire. Please let me know

Make sure the connectors on the battery are all the way down on the poles and you have them tightly connected. That's the problem that I had, Hope this helps.
