It could be the U joints or the tranny mounts. If it sat up the long I would go ahead and change all of the fluids and grease all of the lube points. Plus once its up in the air. You will be able to get a good look at the underbody and check it for rust while you are at it. Go ahead and spray the linkage with some penetrating oil on the e brake cable and any other mechanical linkage while you are there.

The problem is that it's an automatic transmission, mustangs are sport/muscle cars and therefore need a manual transmission! Say no to automatic transmissions... Everyone in Europe and basically everywhere else in the world except North America are unanimously manual transmission drivers lol.

Where does it idle? If the idle is too high, it can cause what you're describing. It should idle somewhere in the 900 rpm range.

Mine has been like that since i got it about 10,000 miles ago. (145,000) and has been like that till this day, but the vacuum modulator completely blew and was showering the inside of the intake with (what I found inside the lower intake was something like 6 ounces of it) ATF. So I'm not sure if the modulator has anything with the shifting into reverse but ill let you know when I am done cleaning everything up and get it all back together.

(but hopefully I will be doing a t-5 swap soon)
