My tranny seems to only have 2 gears and won't go into overdrive. Is this something i should take to a Tranny shop or just replace it. Is there a place where i could buy a new transmission or am i just going to have to buy a rebuilt one also is there any other transmissions other than the A4LD that fit the 2.3 without any extra work?

If you are planning on keeping the car for a long time i would have it rebuilt. Find a reputable shop and it should go fine. These transmissions have been around a while and the rebuilds usally go well. The only other automatic that might bolt in there is a C3. It is basically an a4ld with out overdrive . Good Question for a transmission rebuilder or shop.
