Question Filter Tube Question

I just put a mass air flow adapter on my sencer and then put a cold air intake on it, I connected the main wire on top of the senser but there was another wire that connected to the filter box that has no where to go now. Can someone please tell me if this was important and if it will hurt my engine.

Was it the vacuum line?

Also how did get your CAI to work with the MAF? I know about the adapter but mine would just shut off cause of the bigger 3 inch intake i put on it and the air/fuel ratio was off due to that.

Default Tube Question

I have decided that I am going to get a new filter box to fit a cone F & N intake filter in it. I have another question though, In the picture below the thing that the arrow is pointing at is the air silencer, right. If I take the silencer off and the tube connecting to the throttle body off can I buy a new tube from like Auto zone to replace them?
