Question Annoying scrapping noise..?

For the life of me I cannot figure out what this noise is. Its kind of like a squeaking noise that comes from my left front tire on my 87 2.3lx. It only happens in cold weather, and the colder it gets, the longer it takes for it to go away. It usually takes me around 10 miles for it to go away. But then when I park it for the night, its back the next day.. I thought it was the old brakes because they needed to be changed but even after I put new disc's and pads on it, the noise was still there. The wheel bearing looked fine when I took off the disc(no metal shavings or anything). It sounds kinda like there is one spot on the disc that rubs on something everytime it rotates. So its not really noticeable under 10mph. I put it in nuetral at 25mph to see if reving it would change the speed of the sound but it didn't, so I know its coming from the wheel and not the drivetrain. This has been going on ever since winter started and its kind of embarrasing to drive down the road with that annoying noise coming from the wheel.. I'm stumped

ok this happened to me, it may not be the same problem, if you look at the lower control arms they sit just inside the rotors, but they don't touch them, as the balljoint wears the control arm starts touching the inside lip of the rotor, as it warms up it expands and doesn't touch the rotor as much. but it could also be a dry bearing, or brake pad squeelers.

i guess the dust sheild (backing plate) could be bent too, they rot out and get very weak.

The dust shield looked like it was in good condition when I changed the disc's. I'll take a look at the ball joint. What exactly should I be looking for though? I never had to replace one before. Thanks guys!

if you changed the rotors and still have the old ones check the back of the rotor and see if the inside lip has ware marks. if not get under the car and look at the control arms where they meet the rotor, they overhand into the rotor a bit, you should have a gap between the rotor and control arm, about a inch maybe less, if there is no gap and the control arm is touching the rotor thats the problem.
