I've notice a humming sound coming from the trunk area while I'm driving and when I first start up my car. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Fuel pump in the fuel tank.

That's just your fuel pump and absolutely nothing to worry about

mine changes tone if the signal light is on. there's usually a foam sock around the pump so you don't hear it, over time the fuel eats it and it falls off. don't worry about it .

i bought my car a bout 2 months ago and have the same problem . .i have not been driving my car at all, waiting for warm weather (it's a convertible) but the first thing i was going to change on the car was the fuel pump, thinking that is going bad! and i thought i read somewhere here that it needs to be changed if i hear the hummmm .. so 100% sure here that the humming has nothing to do with the pump going bad?
