Default Turbo coupe vs natural build

Would i get better performance for my money by putting a thunderbird t/c motor inmy car or building the current motor I have. I have a friend who used to race stock car and knows how to build the 2.3 int a 275+hp car, but i dont have a lot of money to put in the car which would be a better route to go if I want more performance for not too many dollars

Go turbo. Until now I only got about 2500 in my entire car. Counting new trans, carpet, headlights, driveshaft etc. Since having to replace the 1st 150 dollar motor. I will have a little more now in it.
