If you are considering it DONT. My best friend has a RX8 and is trying to get rid of it. It is kind of quick stock but its not very impressive. It has ridiculously low torque and is kinda sluggish of the line. I can take him in my v6 if that tellsyou anything. And if you can't work on them and would depend on a mechanic then you will be spending alot of money because mazda is the only people that can work on them.

Don't I considered it once in a MG Midget was going to use a RX7 motor. Repair nightmare. Here is idea and still keep it Ford. A v-6 from a approx 2001 about 210 hp with lots o torque. Should fit nicely. Computer would have to reprogram to delete anti-theif since in differant car. I almost chose this instead of the motor going in the 93 vert.

I find that funny since the big thing about rotary engines is that there's only like 7 moving parts or something.

Yeah it doesnt make much sense to me either. But his latest situation is that this last real cold snap we had the temp got down to 4. And the next morning his car wouldn't start. He tried everything he could think of and no progress so he called someone. They said in cold weather gas makes the oil seperate from the blades on the rotor or something and not to try to fix it or let anyone try, to have it taken to Mazda. It ended up costing about five hundred bucks. I hope it doesn't happen everytime it gets cold.

The rotary is a excellant idea. But you are not going to get high mileage out of them. The rotary seals wear out to soon. Maybe in future new materials maybe will be more durable. Also while on odd engines. Seen a write up of motorcyle motor with oval pistons. Picture it as one piston that takes up the entire space of 2. 2plugs, multivalve. They were having sealing problems on the flats but what a interesting idea.

I just have seen turbo rotary engines that make some serious power. Just a thought

Rotary engines are like communism - it works great in theory.

You couldn't pay me to put a rotary in a mustang. It's like taking 1 step forward and 3 steps backwards.
