Default Manual to slush box conversion

Hello all, this is my first post here and I'm hoping that you all can help me out.

I recently acquired a 1986 2 door coupe, straight 4 with manual tranny.
My daughter does not feel comfortable driving it to the point she wants to give it to my wife. In order to get her happy with this great car is to look at converting the transmission from manual to auto.

I found an auto tranny -w- torque convertor to swap out.

I 'think' I will need the following parts (any ideas/assistance here is greatly appreciated):

Radiator -w- coolant lines
flywheel
top shifter and linkage?
Stamped steel plate (goes btwn engine and tranny - is this really needed?)

Do I need anything else? Any ideas where to get the parts?
All help is appreciated.

Thanks in advanced for your assistance.

Ron

Welcome to the site!!!! You can use a aftermarket trans cooler instead of buying another radiator....you do need the steel plate...i would just hit a salvage yard and get the shifter and related parts.

agreed you do need the steel/alum. plate (keeps dirt and debris out of the bell housing) and yes you can get an aftermarket trans cooler instead of buying a whole new radiator. dont forget you'll need to change pedals too.

Welcome I assume going to c-3 or c-4. External trans cooler as mention. flexplate[flywheel], Metal plate between bellhousing and motor,[maybe same as 4-speed]torque convertor nuts,[Only reason I mention may need to order],pigtail for trans,{might be same as the 4speed unsure and just plug up}, run vacumn line for trans, May need driveshaft on 4speed unsure of length,[5speed and c-4 same], Shifter and cable, On pedal remove clutch one or change pedal assembly. [Some one would probably trade you pedal assemblies more going standard than automatic] Remember will need to bypass clutch switch to get it to start, Unsure of crossmember may need to move it. I just don't know. Flexplate can get at autoparts place.
