Got a 92 lx 2.3.
We pulled the fuel pump out and the pump worked but we're not getting power when we put it back in.
We checked the distributor module and it worked.
Check the relay box on the passenger side strut tower. Someone else will have to chime in for specifics, as I am just repeateing what I have read here before.
get a wiring diagram and some highlighters, follow every wire for the fuel pump module and probe them with a test light to make sure there all doing there job. please note ALL ecm signal outputs are GROUND signal. test everything at the module under the hood. probing wires can be tricky without ruining them so try to test what you can at the end of the harness while it's disconnected.
the fuel pump relay is under the seat up till 1990 on a 2.3l, 1991 to 1993 is a module on the passanger strut tower. here's more help, if it's not legable i'll send it to you in a e-mail. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...1ecmwiring.jpg
The octane adjustment shortening bar is simply small shunt-like connector that completes a circuit across two wires in the ignition module circuit to allow the timing to be advanced a couple of degrees. This is to give a little more power, but if it is removed, you may be able to run lower octane fuel without experiencing ping or spark knock.
