Default 2.3T D.I.S. vs. MSD debate

Has anyone found a way to make a 2.3T running an LA3 EEC IV run with distributorless ignition? Will the Ford system run with the EEC IV? I have found a few aftermarket systems online yet none of them seem very definitive. Perhaps with a J-Chip and tune?

and to play my own devils advocate, whats wrong with just running an MSD system? Are there advantages disadvantages to the conversion? Would a DIS gain that much more power or ability to tune? Being a 4Cyl, doesn't the coil have more than enough time to regenerate enough power to put out maximum spark?

I'm riding the fence here on wether or not it would be worth my effort to look into this more so please, let me know your thoughts.

It's been done before. The wiring for the DIS and the TFI modules are very similar. The trick is the Crank Position Sensor. If you're running a late model block that was originally set up for DIS it's a no-brainer since the mount for the sensor is already there. The earlier blocks need to have a couple of holes drilled in EXACTLY the right places to mount the sensor properly. After that it's just a little wiring modification. You'll also need the DIS crank pulley setup that has the reluctor wheels on the back.

I think I already posted a wiring diagram that showed DIS to TFI wiring. A little reverse engineering can make it go the other way.

Turboford is also a good source for information on this topic.
