ok soo my problem is my little brother has a 1988 non turbo mustang that he just put a turbo 2.3l in it...and we put all the timing gears and distrubutor in right and it turns over perfect fine but we are like getting a popcorn maker noise out the exhaust when we crank it over...help please

Double and triple check the timing. Popping out of the exhaust may indicate ignition while the exhaust valve is open which means the timing is off.

You may have the valve train timing right but the distributor is stabbed wrong or vice versa.

Also check to make sure the firing order 1-3-4-2 is correct on your distributor cap. Also make sure it's wired in the right direction.
