Default svo cam in a 2.3L N/A enine?

Anyone try putting a svo/turbo cam into a N/A 2.3L engine?
Would it run worth a crap? & would i have to change anything else or just stick the svo cam in and go?

Just curious! Thanks

Default svo/ turbo cam in a 2.3L n/a engine

Both motors are fuel injected.

Should work. I am running a later model Mustang/Ranger NA roller cam in my 2.3 turbo. As far as making more power. I really doubt it. The power of the svo comes from turbo, forged pistons and tuning [computer].

Here is what I found. When got mine I just grab one that was roller out of a Ranger. Not sure on the dp head but a link I found said 89-92 ranger and 91 up Mustang. You need a valve spring depresssor or lifter depressor to take out and short or 90 degree cross point screwdriver to get rear screws out.

Default svo cam swap in a N/a 2.3L

My 92' has the dual plug set up, but not a roller cam. Not sure about this turbo motor that i wanted to take the cam out of & try.
I got it from a guy that was hard up for money, & he wasn't sure what it came out of either.

I wouldn't I say wouldn't get no extra power. Why not build the SVO motor up and then install it with a turbo. I had a 90 2.3 na hatback. Loved driving it. But power between the 89 2.3t and it was like difference between daylight and dark. A little drive in the 89 at 10psi. Letting c-4 shift normally. Notice not red lining it. Wife's photobucket. Got out of it at 60

Default svo cam in a 2.3L

That is definately my plan, but right now it's my daily driver. & i'm about to move, so really don't want to start that before i'm all settled in. I'll probably have to go through the motor just to make sure everythings is ok...the guy had it for quite some time & i can see a tiny bit of rust on the cylinder walls that i'll need to hone out.
Don't have all the small stuff yet either.

That may be a proper technical correction, but what experience do you have to offer on a 2.3L turbo cam (SVO specific question at that)?

The SVO cam will work, it will just not afford the real desired performance gain that you are seeking.

Leave the cam in the head and grab the whole turbo-head. Bolt it straight on and run a header. They flow alot better. I'm looking for one myself.

A dual plug head flows good to but I wouldnt want it. All a SVO cam is gonna do is make your car slower. Lower compression engines arent the same as a n/a engine.
