Running Garrett about that size on mine. But is that the China version if so. Well talked about at Turboford.net they self destruct quickly. Like in hours or weeks.
If those are the ones on eBay, then they can be used. Send it to Charlie at Evergreen Turbo and he will change out the center section for a real comfortable price. That is the critical part.
The 84 and 85 SVO had a .60/.63 turbo, and the 85.5 and 86 had the .60/.48 turbo. The higher the A/R on the turbine side, the higher RPM band is where the boost threshold is. Some (who don't know what they are talking about) refer to this as turbo lag, but the two terms are totally different.
A higher boost threshold will result in having boost in the upper RPM band, where a lower A/R will run out of boost at a lower RPM. This results in backpressure on the engine and higher exhaust temps.
The reason that the SVO had a lower A/R on the later versions is that people complained about not having boost soon enough.
thank you Navy. and yes that was one off of ebay. one further question if i was to buy a rebuild kit (like on ebay) would that help with the durability of the internals?
