Default 1984 mustang convertable swap

I am starting over on my project before I got going too far.
The car I have now is a pre-roller cam V8 302, and I am putting in a 1989 Turbo TBird 2.3l motor in her. I am wanting to know what mods would be required to get this thing to dish out realistically 350hp. I know how to build different kinds of motors but this is the first domestic one. A shop will be doing most of the wrench work, but I will be putting her in. Any suggestions would be great. Also, if anyone knows of any better internals that would be better balanced and stronger to achieve 350hp would be also great.

Thanks.

Also, I've been reading up on people have added a Volvo DOHC 2.3 head on their Mustang 2.3. Is this even possible, and if it is, what types of modifications would be required, if any?

Air in/air out. That's the key. Get ahold of Bo and ask his opinion............... - BOPORT Racing Heads - Fremont CA

First you should go with one of his heads and cam. Next, a tube header and 3" exhaust system. LA3 computer, large VAM, etc. How many miles does the 2.3 have on it? If it's under 160k you should be OK with just a seal-n-shine. If it's over 200k you may want to think about a clean-up bore. There's no substitute for good sealing rings! Turbowise, a T3/T4 will probably get you there. You could always go with a MAF, bigger injectors, yada, yada, yada at a later date. However, what I just listed should easily meet your goals. Again, give Bo a holler.

Shelve the Volvo head idea for now. Lots of SERIOUS fabrication!
