need a hand with a gauge issue.

ok so i bought some aftermarket gauges the other week. (oil press. temp, and volt.) i have the oil and temp hooked up but idk how to hook up the volt gauge. ive heard that if its hooked up wrong it can mess my ignition system up.

and i def. dont want that. so can some one please point me in the direction as to how or where to hook this gauge up so i can put my car back together. thanks.

Does it not just hook to the battery?

you have to hook it in to a keyed ignition power. and a ground that way when u turn the car off, it turns off

other wise it could be liek leaveeing ur radio on. im not sure how fast they drain the battery but you dont wanna find out away from home!

now im not sure about the messing up the ignition so someone else can back me up maybe?

black to ground, red to keyed ignition other to light?

I know how to hook it up but idk where to run the positive and neg. Wires like a location to them. Ie. Alternator or so on... Help
