Default do the 2.3 have a rev limiter?

i recently got a 89 coupe with the 2.3 and 5 speed in it. i milled the head .100, ported it, stiffer springs and put a header off of a 96 ranger. but now it seems to hit a rev limiter at about 6000rpm. do they have one?

thanks, at what rpm does it limit it to? after i did some reading i went and pulled the knock sensor. that helped a lot. now it pulls much harder and higher rpm. but i think anything more will be a wast of time with this speed density setup. right now im debating a carberator conversion, maf conversion, or just selling the car.

2 things:

-I do not know what RPM your EEC has it set for.
-By taking away the knock sensor function, you could be damaging the engine.

i dont think im herting it. i have the water injection on (+94 octane) and i can hear no pinging. the compression is about 11:1 to one i think. i ran a compression test on it yesterday and im looking at 215-220psi on all cylinders. im going to trying advancing the cam one tooth this afternoon and see if that does anything for it.

FOr EFI mustangs its always advised to unhook the knock sensor when building HP. Its just one of those things that keeps an EFI N/A 2.3 from making hp. Oh and convert to MAF and rid that speed density crap, that'll help to. BUt the most HP is gained through Carbed or Turboed 2.3's. You may beable to use a computer from another engine or see if there are chips or anything.
