I heard a ranger cam and headers will do. Am I wrong?

Default 2.3 cam

I put a Ranger header on mine and made a nice 2.5" exhaust, but the biggest improvement i've gotten so far was removing the stock air intake muffler. I thought it might be lean, but I installed an LC-1 wideband system today, and the air/fuel is perfect without any fuel system mods. I have a roller cam from a ranger on the way, and I have a stock 65mm throttle body from a 94 GT, which I've made an adapter plate for, and I'm going to port both intakes, cut the top off of the upper, and weld the plate to it. I also got an adjustable cam sprocket and an adjustable fuel regulator that I haven't installed yet. I'd like to know how anyone else is doing with 2.3 n/a mods!

Default 2.3 mods

I got my upper plenum and throttle body setup done this weekend, but it took a lot of time, so I put it back together without doing the lower for now. I wrote about it on the thread about 2.3 intake porting. It made a noticable improvement. My cam should be in this week so I'll probably throw that in. I have a long trip next weekend so i don't want to get to carried away, but I think I'm going to port and shave the head at the same time when I port the lower.

Default 2.3 cam

Today I installed my roller cam from a Ranger, with an adjustable sprocket. I also put on a cone type air filter in the inner fender, changed to synthetic oil, and switched the driveshaft with one from a GT that I had lying around, which is quite a bit lighter because it doesn't have the big vibration damper. I found that it seems to run best with cam retarded about 3 degrees. between all this stuff it definetly seems to have more power, especially at higher RPM. Soon I'm going to port and shave the head. I'd like to hear from anyone out there with some 2.3 n/a expirience!
