Default pulling crankshaft hub off of 1992 2.3 engine

i'm trying to pull the crankshaft pulley hub off my 92 2.3l. i've tried heating the shaft with a torch, penetrating oil over night, hammering it to try to break it loose, a 3 jaw puller (ruined the hub and had to spend half a day making calls to find a replacement), and a harmonic balancer puller. anyone know how the hell to get this piece off?

Go to your local auto part store (advance auto/ auto zone) rent/ buy the correct puller for your application. Should come right off without causing all the damage you mentioned. They have the pullers were there are bolts that screw into the dampner and will pull it straight off unlike using the jaws that will slip off.

"and a harmonic balancer puller"

isn't that the one you're referring to? it has a bracket that has 2 bolts that bolt into the hub itself (it's not a dampener) and a big bolt that you put through the middle and push off of the crankshaft bolt. that's not working either as it just keeps turning the crankshaft.

Maybe a dumb question, but did you remove the large bolt that holds it on the crankshaft? I think it's 1-1/16"

yeah. i removed the bolt. i finally got it off. i just slowly worked it with the harmonic balancer puller for like 90 minutes and the damned thing finally came loose. there was so much corrosion or rust on the shaft.

it's all back together (minus the outer timing cover - waiting on a replacement) and running better than it ever has for me. there is so much more get up and go and the vacuum problem i was having that i couldn't figure out is resolved. when i would put a vacuum gauge on it before, the needle was bouncing back and forth between 16 and 17 inches and now it's sitting at 20 steady. the only thing i noticed when i took it for a spin was that there was a rattling coming from the front passengers side for a couple of minutes but then it went away.

the only thing i couldn't find is what the torque specs are supposed to be on the 4 bolts that hold the crank pulley and the 4 bolts that hold the water pump pulley on.

next step is replacing the tach to see if i can resolve it sitting at 4k whenever the key is on and not moving at all. then comes the shocks and struts.

cant say as i had any pass side noises when i did my timing belt.
for anyone interested, water pump to block torque is 14-21 ft lbs and the crankshaft bolt is 114-151 ft lbs. this is all for 2.3L engine.
