tach sits at 4k, any ideas?

whenever the key is in the run position, the tach sits at about 4k on my 92 2.3l. the icm and both the coils are fairly new. anyone have any ideas?

I'm thinking it might be the DIS module.

i dont think its the ICM. its fairly new and that was the 3rd time to replace it since i got the car. and the tach has ALWAYS done that. i just found a tach on ebay for 9.95. seller doesn't know if it works or not, but it's worth a shot...

it was the tach. swapped it out today and the new one works like a charm. of course when you fix one thing 3 others go bad. the speedo now acts like it's smoking crack, the driver's side lift cylinder for my top blew a leak, and i broke the plastic tabs on the dash that the 2 torx screws go into on the top of the dash peice that comes off to get to the cluster. =/

haha wow what a saying.

and dont feel bad i broke one of my tabs off where the torx screws were. it just rattles. i cant stand it.

i used some clear plastic trim and emblem adhesive to glue it down to the dash. just spread it along the edge, put it together and held it still for about 2-3 minutes.
