Default convertible side cylinder

grr. so you fix one thing and another breaks. wtf chuck?

i just changed out my tachometer and now the speedo is acting funny. no big deal because i saw a puddle of red fluid in front of the drivers side rear wheel.

the drivers side cylinder on the top sprung a leak. i don't know how to troubleshoot it to see if the cylinder needs to be replaced or if a hose broke or something else. but my main question is where does the pump pull the fluid from? does it come from the tranny or anything? it looks like trans fluid.

Cool

It's your lucky day! I just happen to have the interior removed on my '89 ragtop so I went out and snapped some pics.
I'll bet either your hose is loose or maybe there's an O-ring in the end of the hose that gave up the ghost. Possibly a broken hose but I doubt you'll have to replace the cylinder.
Cylinder/hose connection

Here's an overall of the pump/motor, followed by a closeup of same. The resevoir for the hydraulic fluid is on the left. The gold colored portion. The fluid is Type A transmission fluid.

mine's leaking from the top of the cylinder so i can't tell if it's coming from the hose, the fitting or from the cylinder itself. i can't see down there good enough.

do you happen to have pictures of the bottom of the rear windows? my passenger side one is all messed up. it is missing 2 pieces of rubber as far as i can tell that go inside the "box" that the track goes through and i can't find replacement parts.
