Default 1984 Convertable Conversion Question: Engine & Transmission

I have a 1984 Mustang Convertable completely stock with a pre-roller cam 302 (which is dieing) and a automatic transmission. I am putting in a 1989 Turbo Coupe 4c turbo motor that I'm rebuilding, but I am wondering just exactly what I'm going to need to do to put the motor in. I think I need a couple more motor mounts but I'm not sure. As far as the transmission goes, what is a good 5-6spd transmission that would work in this setup that can withstand upwards of 400hp?

Cool

First off, Ford stopped making Turbo Coupes in '88. '84 Mustangs came with 2.3's so find one in a junkyard and grab the motor mounts. Probably any '83-'86 2.3 Mustang will work. TC's had different mounts. The T5 tranny from any 2.3 foxbody will work.

You'll need an LA series ECU from the TC and you'll have to repin your harness connector. You'll need to splice in the VAM connector and install the VAM and install some type of boost control. Here's a couple of good websites that detail the swap for '87-'93 Mustangs. Your '84 shouldn't be much different.

The 84 is a carb motor? If so you will also need the fuel tank etc. From a later model Mustang. Fuel line and return line. Also electrical to fuel pump in tank. This may help. TurboFord.net Forums: 2.3T swap into an 79-86 Fox mustang Write-up help needed

Awesome thanks for the info. The motor in my 84 is not a carb and the "new" motor is not a carb either. Guess I'll look in to thye motor mounts then try to git r dun when the weather clears up.
