Default 1992 mustang 2.3 only hits 3k

im wondering if my car has a limiter.
car is an auto w/ overdrive
if i have it in P, N, D, 2, or 1 rpm will top out at 3k.
anyone one have same prob??

if it helps its the 2.3 with dual spark plugs

does it feel underpowered? or have you seen your check engine light on?

it may be your ICM(ignition control module) for the dual spark coil packs. It controls all that junk. mine went out and it had the same problem. might be worth lookin into. see if you can get one online or in a junkyard, they can be pricey. it should have thrown some codes like 223/224 so if you have a code reader or someone that can check it out then youll know for sure.

ummmm... underpowerd a little and check engine light is on. about to go to get it check out.

were is the icm located.?
