Default Drain the fuel tank on 87 lx convertible

I need to drain the fuel tank on the 87 lx. Any ideas would help.

Also, do I need to pull the tank to clean it?...or can I take a chance and change fuel filters often, about once a month after I get it running.

Before you ask, I don't know how mutch fuel is in it.

Also any other ideas to get the car going would help. I know I need a new clutch, but that is after I get it running. The car ran well when parked about 2 years ago.

Thanks,

Joe

Can you tell us why you are dropping the tank? Is it for a new sending unit or because it has been sitting for 2 years?

If it is because of suspected old fuel, I would get it running and just burn it up. Then change fuel filters like you mentioned.

It is hard to say about the condition of the tank and pump/sock without dropping it and inspecting it. Here is what my gas looked like when I dropped my tank.

You can get a hand pump cheap and get out most of it first. I dropped my tank with a 1/4 tank in it no problem.

You can also get a replacement tank for about $100.00 if need be.
