Default '87 Mustang 2.3 A/C Compressor Removal

I didn't see anything in the archives about how to remove the hoses from the A/C compressor. Mine is shot. I have one from a salvage car but the hoses were cut off, leaving the fittings and pieces of hose on the compressor. How can I get these off mine and the replacement without destroying them

are you talking about the round object that is holding the hose to the compressor?

"i take the a/c out.nuthing wrong with 65mph wind coolin u down"

If you lived in a hotter climate, you would not remove your A/C.

There is a special tool to disconnect the A/C lines. They are not terribly expensive and are available at most auto parts stores. Just ask for it.

You should also replace all of the o rings at all of the connections. I would use R134 o rings (green) regardless of which coolant you use. I would also add about 2 ounces of compressor oil since the compressor and lines have been off and some oil is bound to be gone.

If you switch from R12 to R134, be sure to flush the system well and follow all of the correct conversion procedures including switching to the correct oil for R134.

Be sure to vacuum the system down really well (maybe about an hour or more) and check for leaks before adding the freon.

did we say that u cant do it all ur self unless u got the reclamer and u should deff read up on changing the lines. r-12 hurts a bit if u get it on u ...dont think that just becuz ur lines have holes that the hole system is empty...
