Default 2.3 rear gear set up

hey there, i have a 1992 2.3 N/A and i dont really want to go turbo, so i picked up an upgrade for new rear gears, i looked around and learned that if i put a 4.10 gears on my rear end it would help performance by quite a bit. I was just wondering how much of a hp increase im looking at and what gear ratio do i have in my car right now stock. Thx

No hp gain.

Stock ratio for automatic was 3.73, the 5speed had 3.45's.

Does it give you better low end torque?

think of it like a 5 speed bicycle, with the gears on rear rim, if it's on the bottom gear at the back its really hard to pedal, but once you get it pedaling you can get going really fast, now if you put it on the top geat at the rim, now you can pedal so easy, but you have to pedal like crazy to go anywhere, real easy but no high speed.
the same idea is used with rear gears, 2.73's are hard to turn, 4:10's are easy to turn, so your rpm's would top out sooner , but it's easier on the engine to get you up to speed, great for quarter mile, or in town, but a fuel killer on the highway.

would the 3.73 be the best bet for mpg/speed then?

So. What can I pull this 4:10 out of and is it easy to install?

well i was planning on getting the 4.10 off of a site called parts train, i dont think you can part it out of anything, and new is always best, plus you have to get the gear and the install kit. all togther its 511$$ that is with shipping.... in Canadain funds. plus you have to get it installed which is apparently a 6 hour job... thank god for hook ups thanks for the replies
